What eReader Should I Choose?

With the increasing popularity of eReaders you’re probably wondering which is right for you.
The good news is that most eBooks can be read on almost any eReader, computer or smart phone.  So even if you don’t have a dedicated eReader you can still enjoy the benefits of digital books.

From a book standpoint, the two main types are
(a) those that use ePub format books (Kobo, Sony, etc)
(b) Amazon Kindle which uses the mobi or azw format.
Since Amazon doesn’t read ePub books some formats are ruled out (and vice versa – that is, some books only available on Amazon can’t be read by other eReaders).

** The good news is that most of the books on this site are available in all formats! **

From a technical standpoint, the most common eReaders are:

1. Kindle
2. Kobo
3. Sony

The Benefits of eBooks

  1. Instant accessibility – you don’t need to go out shopping, or wait for days for the book to arrive in the mail.
  2. Cheap prices – most eBooks are under $10.00 and the vast majority of eBooks are cheaper than print versions.
  3. Less storage space – if you’re like me you’ve got books lining endless shelves. With eBooks you can fit thousands of books into one device and get rid of some clutter!
  4. Mobile – A library is great if you’re always at home, but what if you’re traveling or on vacation?  EReaders are a great way to bring books with you wherever you go.  And they won’t weigh down your suitcase!
  5. You don’t need to worry about losing them, your kids tearing out pages, or books collecting dust or mold!
